Auditor Planning Letter

Dr. Musser asked Mrs. Lesley Stricker, Asst. Business Manager, to discuss the annual audit planning letter from the District's independent auditors, Cherry Bekaert LLP, regarding the audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. This letter serves as a standard communication required by professional standards to outline their approach and responsibilities.

Statewide Training Administrators

Dr. Musser asked Dr. Melnyk to share about the interactive safety training administrators participated in at PennSSI. The program allowed the team to practice deescalation strategies as well as develop situational awareness skills.

First Responder Training

Dr. Melnyk also reported that approximately 35 local first responders attended an information session where Mr. Reich gave tours of the building to review access points (roofs, crawlspaces) as well as emergency shutoff procedures.

In-House Threat Assessment Training

Dr. Musser called upon Dr. Melnyk to review the training that took place on June 11, 2026. He shared that he and officer Fisher held the annual Cocalico Safety Teams training for teachers, administrators, and support staff. They reviewed current trends with vaping, THC use, and drug paraphernalia. The building level teams updated their all-hazards plans the remainder of the day.

Spring Sports

At Dr. Musser's request, Dr. Melnyk provided an update about spring sports participation, along with team and individual honors. 288 students participated in spring sports this past year, a 6% increase over the previous year.

Cocalico had three teams advance into the Lancaster Lebanon League Playoffs—Boys' Lacrosse, Girls' Lacrosse, and Boys' Volleyball. These same three teams advanced into the PIAA District III Playoffs. The Boys' Lacrosse team finished 4th in District Playoffs and advanced into the PIAA AA State Championships. The Boys' Volleyball team won the section and officials' sportsmanship award.

The Girls' Lacrosse team had 10 players selected to the All-Star team, including the Most Valuable Player. The Boys' Lacrosse team had seven individuals selected as All-Stars. Boys Volleyball had five players selected and softball/baseball each had three receiving post season honors.

At the Lancaster Lebanon League Track and Field County Championships, Cocalico had eight individuals make it to the podium for medals along with three boys' relay teams. There were three boys and two girls who advanced into PIAA District III Track & Field Championships— Lia Augustine, Corrina Pierdomenico, and Luke Waas all qualified for the PIAA State Championships. Lia Augustine set three school records this year: 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meter dash. Corinna Pierdomenico set a new school record in the 1600 meters.

In addition to the success in competitions, six of our Spring teams actively participated in community service activities at various locations. On June 10, 2026, the Athletic Department held our 4th Annual Day of Giving. At this event, more than 75 student-athletes, coaches, and staff members assisted the custodial and administrative staff at Cocalico High School, Denver Elementary, Reamstown Elementary, and Adamstown Elementary prepare for the summer months.

Dr. Musser's Remarks

At the conclusion of her Superintendent's Report, Dr. Ella Musser addressed the Board, staff, and the community present at the meeting with a heartfelt message expressing how much she has valued her time at the District. She said, "We have a wonderful community, great Board, dedicated staff, and a phenomenal leadership team. Mrs. Marley is ready for the role and the team is strong. I know the District will continue to grow, prosper, and thrive."
