Adaptability at the Middle School

Below are just some of the ways adaptability and flexibility skills are being taught to middle school students.

Odyssey of the Mind

A key component of the Odyssey of the Mind program is the practice of spontaneous problems. Students must adapt their thinking to solve a variety of real-world situations.

Daily Schedules

When students transition into the middle school, they must immediately adapt to varied responsibilities and situations and must work effectively in times of change. They must learn to work within an entirely different schedule and rotation of classes and special areas.

CREW

On CREW days, students work in mixed grade level groups to plan activities, ease transitions, and discuss social and emotional situations. They must learn to incorporate feedback effectively and respond positively to both criticism and praise.
