Communication is an important competency that all students need to be successful after high school. Our teachers and support staff are committed to ensuring proficiency in communication skills will be achieved. The video below highlights an innovative project that is being done in a 5th grade classroom at Denver Elementary. It entails all skills listed below as students research, design, and present a persuasive speech to classmates. 

Students who become competent in communication will be able to:

• Articulate effectively - oral, written, and non-verbal
• Listen effectively
• Communicate for a range of purposes
• Utilize media and technology
• Communicate effectively in diverse environments

For the 2018-19 school year, the Communication proficiency is the main focus. Faculty are participating in staff development workshops and are working in grade-level and departmental groups to ensure communication is an integral part of the curriculum.
