Executive Assistant

Welcome to the Superintendent’s Page!

I am excited to share with you some of the new developments in the Cocalico School District. We have been working hard to improve the programs and services that we offer to the students in the Cocalico community.

At the leadership level, Mrs. Denise Logue, who had been the Adamstown Principal, is assuming a new role as Director of Academic Supports so that she can lead a more comprehensive approach to differentiated instruction in the classroom, tutoring for students, and special education services. Mrs. Susan Snyder, who had been the Middle School Assistant Principal, is taking on the role of Principal at Adamstown Elementary School. And Mrs. Samantha Bensing, who had been an eighth-grade mathematics teacher, has been assigned to a new Dean of Students position at the Middle School. Each of these individuals is highly qualified for increased responsibilities and will offer new insights to the work of the district. I am very pleased to welcome them to their new roles.

We have also been making some capital improvements to our buildings. These include a high school roof and wall panel replacement and minor upgrades to some of the classroom spaces. Collaboration rooms have been established in each elementary building, and there are new small group seating options in the lower level of the high school cafeteria. To further support the teaching and learning process, a training series for 21st Century Learning has been developed, and staffing has been added in the areas of emotional support, gifted support, technology integration, and home and school connections. More than ever before, we can take a collaborative approach to educating our students, and students can take a collaborative approach to learning.

In addition, we have done some intentional work on what will be known as our Eagle PACT. Throughout the course of last year, we hosted a series of meetings to gather input regarding “soft skills” we should be emphasizing with our students to more adequately prepare them for college and careers. The four areas that surfaced as our highest priority areas are Problem Solving, Adaptability, Communication, and Teamwork, which is why we will be referring to it as our Eagle PACT. We will be working with faculty, staff, and the broader community to create and refine opportunities to foster the development of these skills in our students.

For these reasons and more, it is my great pleasure to welcome everyone back to the 2018-2019 school year! I eagerly await the successes our students will most certainly achieve as we fulfill our mission of inspiring and supporting every child, every chance, every day!

Warmest regards,

Ella H. Musser, Ed. D.
