Holiday Happenings

In the Giving Spirit...

The students of Cocalico were in the giving spirit during the Holiday season by participating in many efforts aimed at helping those less fortunate. Here’s a quick sampling of their incredible efforts:

Students at Adamstown Elementary participated in their annual Deck and Donate. First, students decked the tree at school using their own handmade ornaments. Then, they gave monetary donations which will be used to help families in Adamstown in need of clothing, medication, school supplies, etc. Nearly $700 was collected.

A Reamstown Elementary 3rd grader, Avery Hill, collected hats, gloves, and scarves from fellow students for the Lancaster Project for the Needy. She helped to hand out the items she collected, along with food, on December 21, 2019.

Cocalico Middle School students donated hats, scarves, and mittens for Ephrata Area Social Services by placing them on the Giving Tree, sponsored by the National Junior Honor Society. In addition, students in Miss Baxter’s homeroom conducted a reverse advent calendar. Instead of receiving a gift each day, the students signed up to bring in a nonperishable food item to be donated to the local food bank.

At Cocalico High School, Student Government held their annual Toys for Tots toy drive. Toys were also collected for the Annual Kole’s Toy Drive, an event collecting Legos and other toys for needy children in memory of Kole Trupe, a local boy who died in a drowning accident in 2011 .
