May 3-5, 2010 (Monday - Wednesday)
Photos from past sessions.
The success of Cocalico's Environmental Education Experience is in large part due to the involvement of parents as camp volunteers. Parents who volunteer for this worthwhile experience join the students at camp, co-teach one lesson, and serve as cabin parents.
Attached is a medication permission form for the Camp Swatara Environmental Experience. If your child requires medication (including over the counter medications such as Tylenol, Benadryl, Claritin, etc) at camp we will need the following:
- The attached form completed with all necessary information (one sheet for each medication)
- A physician signature on the attached form OR a written order OR the pharmacy bottle with the correct prescribing information. The information from your physician MUST include:
- The name of the medication
- How often and when it is to be given
- The dosage
- The medication in the original bottle-with only enough doses for the time at camp
- The medication and paperwork brought to the school on the morning of departure - EVEN THOSE MEDS THAT ARE STORED AT SCHOOL - unless other arrangements have been made with the school nurse (If your child has medication at school, we highly recommend contacting the school nurse well in advance of the trip to discuss these meds)
- If your child is to carry a medication - INHALERS ONLY - required is the attached signed permission or a note from your physician stating your child may carry it and that he/she has been educated in proper usage
PLEASE KEEP THIS FORM UNTIL DEPARTURE IN THE EVENT YOUR CHILD WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY REQUIRE MEDICATION ON THE TRIP
Camp Swatara Medical Form
Students bringing medications to camp without the necessary information and signatures will not receive those medications. If you have any questions concerning medication administration during the environmental experience at Camp Swatara, please feel free to call the health room at your child’s school. Thank you for your assistance in keeping all of our students healthy and safe.
We suggest that your child should bring the following items to Camp Swatara.

MY RESPONSIBILITIES DURING ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
I will be responsible for the completion of all academic assignments.
I will be agreeable about accepting the room, team table and group assignments. I know that the faculty has considered the best interests of each student in making these assignments.
I will be responsible for my personal cleanliness and the condition of my living area.
I will willingly participate in all activities.
I will take my turn doing mealtime and other responsibilities that may be necessary.
I will conduct myself in a manner that will reflect credit upon my family and school.
I understand that my failure to comply with the rules and policies of the outdoor education program will result in my being sent home. In that event I will receive a failing grade for the work that I miss.
